.....because GE was OWED $3,200,000,000 in tax credits by U.S. TAXPAYERS in 2010 in part by off-shoring JOBS and profits.

(PLEASE!!!) Don't Let Texas Rewrite History!

Yes, it's true ... in the form of its extremist "Board of Education" Texas is LITERALLY rewriting PROVABLE American history. Their changes to your kids school books will automatically impact nearly every state and school system in the U.S. ... to quote "Children who use textbooks conforming to the new standards (in Texas) will not learn anything about the political philosophy of Thomas Jefferson or his thoughts on the separation of church and state. When they learn about the Civil War, they'll have to study Jefferson Davis' inaugural address alongside Abraham Lincoln's. And when they study the civil rights movement they'll have to learn about the "unintended consequences" of Great Society programs, affirmative action and Title IX. It's outrageous. Education will fail if we can't teach our children history. We can't let these far-right ideologues co-opt our educational system. Sign the petition to tell the textbook publishers: Don't let Texas rewrite history." http://www.change.org/petitions/view/dont_let_texas_rewrite_history?partner=59

From Congressman Alan Grayson:

Why should launching wars and cutting taxes for the rich require only 50 votes while saving lives requires 60?

Join Rep. Alan Grayson and me in calling for an end to this unfair system. Tell Majority Leader Reid to modify the rules of the Senate to require only 55 votes to invoke cloture instead of 60. Sign the petition today!

Help Protect the Legal Rights of Rape Victims

In 2005, Jamie Leigh Jones was working for a private contractor in Iraq when she was brutally gang-raped by coworkers. Four years later, Jamie is still being denied justice. Jamie can't file U.S. criminal charges because the rape took place overseas, and a fine-print clause in her contract takes away her right to file a lawsuit in the U.S.

Congress is working to protect the rights of rape victims like Jamie. But, shockingly, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is fighting it. They say that it would "set a dangerous precedent" to allow rape victims into court.I signed a petition urging the Chamber of Commerce to stop protecting rapists. Can you join me at the link below? http://pol.moveon.org/chamber/rape/?r_by=17974-6614184-MV.jwsx&rc=comment_paste

Don't Let the Credit Card Companies Get Away With It

Like zombies that just won't die, the credit card companies are rising again to eat the cash in your wallet! They’re hiking your interest rate, slamming you with new fees, or increasing your minimum payment before a new law goes into effect in February that will stop their bloodsucking ways:

Petition to Sen. Maj. Leader Harry Reid

PETITION TO SENATE MAJORITY LEADER HARRY REID:
Any Democratic senators who support a Republican attempt to block a vote on health care reform should be stripped of their leadership titles. Americans deserve a clean up-or-down vote on health care.
